Record Views — How It Works

Overview

Tracks how often classmates' cards in the Classmates directory actually get looked at, and by whom.

Two Signals

  • Card Views — a classmate's card scrolled into view and stayed visible for a beat (about 800ms) — a real "someone read this," not a fast scroll-past.
  • Photo Clicks — their yearbook photo was opened for a closer look.

What's Tracked

  • Only authenticated, non-committee classmates are tracked — committee browsing doesn't skew the data.
  • Each (classmate, view type) pair is logged at most once per browser session — scrolling past someone's card 5 times in one visit counts once, not five.
  • Nobody's own card counts as a "view" of themselves.
